美国卓越青藤教育PIEA 成功举办了SUMMER-PROGRAM 上线OPEN HOUSE

【校委会报道】  6月17日晚上8:30，卓越青藤教育PIEA 在新泽西Woodcliff Lake 校区成功举办了线上Open House, 校长王朝芳Wendy、教务长Al Gilson、PIEA助理Angela 薛莹、Maggie 王思彤、Grace 、Leslie 与家长和老师在线相聚。用中英文解答家长们提出的问题。

I am co-founder of Premier Ivy Education Alliance. At PIEA, I work in collaboration with the staff at PIEA to ensure that all programs and employees are aligned with each individual student’s learning goal.

I’ve spent over 25 years in both the private and public sector of education, and I have a proven track record for creating, leading, and founding education programs: as a Chief Academic Officer, a High School Principal, a Curriculum Specialist, an Academic Coach and as a Teacher.

除了定制辅导外，我们summer-program 上线了，3rd – 5th Grade小学生的课程、6th - 8th Grade初中生的课程、High School Placement Exam 高中入门考试、SAT/ACT 考前强化班。大家可以到网站Summer Program 点击每一门课程进去，就可以看到课程说明。也可以看到老师的介绍。

What is the schedule? 课程安排—Wendy

June 29th – August 21st，一共8周，为了方便大家，我们提供了多种选择方式，可以选择全部8周课程，也可以根据孩子的Schedule，选择其中几周，或者单点其中的几门课，孩子每周的其中固定哪天已经有安排比如球队训练，费用都可以修复。总之可以自由组合。

What are their qualifications? 老师们的资质是怎样的？—Al

All tutors have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, are ranked within the top 5% of their graduating class, have been accepted into top tier colleges/universities and/or high schools (BCA).

•  Edmodo – Tools and resources to manage classrooms and engage students remotely, offering a variety of languages.

•  Schoology – Tools to support instruction, learning, grading, collaboration and assessment.

•  Seesaw – Enables the creation of collaborative and sharable digital learning portfolios and learning resources.

•  Code It – Helps children learn basic programming concepts through online courses, live webinars and other kid-friendly material. Available in English and German.

•  Code.org – Wide range of coding resources categorized by subject for K12 students offered for free by a non-profit.

•  Discovery Education – Free educational resources and lessons about viruses and outbreaks for different grade levels.

•  Khan Academy – Free online lessons and practice in math, sciences and humanities, as well as free tools for parents and teachers to track student progress. Available in 40+ languages, and aligned to national curriculum for over 10 countries.

•  Mindspark – Adaptive online tutoring system that helps students practice and learn mathematics.

•  Music Crab – Mobile application accessible for music education. 

•  Quizlet – Learning flashcards and games to support learning in multiple subjects, available in 15 languages. 

•  YouTube – Huge repository of educational videos and learning channels.

Collaboration platforms that support live-video communication.

•  Hangouts Meet – Video calls integrated with other Google’s G-Suite tools.

•  Skype – Video and audio calls with talk, chat and collaboration features.

•  WeChat Work – Messaging, content sharing and video/audio-conferencing tool with the possibility of including max. 300 participants, available in English and Chinese.

•  WhatsApp – Video and audio calls, messaging and content sharing mobile application.

•  Zoom – Cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, collaboration, chat and webinars.

•  Thinglink – Tools to create interactive images, videos and other multimedia resources.

•  EdPuzzle – Video lesson creation software..

•  Nearpod – Software to create lessons with informative and interactive assessment activities.

•  Pear Deck – Facilitates the design of engaging instructional content with various integration features.

选择好课程，记得支付金额是学费加上注册费用，如果因为课程的选择比较复杂，不能确认最后应付金额，随时欢迎打电话咨询确认。

How will instruction be delivered; what will the structure of the lesson look like? A flipped classroom:

Plan

Figure out which lesson in particular you want to flip. Outline the key learning outcomes and a lesson plan.

Record

Instead of teaching this lesson in-person, make a video. A screencast works. Make sure it contains all the key elements you’d mention in the classroom.

Share

Send the video to your students. Make it engaging and clear. Explain that the video’s content will be fully discussed in class.

Change

Now that your students have viewed your lesson, they’re prepared to actually go more in-depth than ever before.

Group

An effective way to discuss the topic is to separate into groups where students are given a task to perform. Write a poem, a play, make a video, etc.

Regroup

Get the class back together to share the individual group’s work with everyone. Ask questions, dive deeper than ever before.

Some other strategies that can be used in in-class activities include:

Active learning. Allow students to apply concepts in class where they can ask peers or instructors for feedback and clarification.

Peer instruction. Students can teach each other by explaining concepts or working on small problems.

Collaborative learning. Collaborative learning activities could increase student engagement, enhance student understanding, and promote collective intelligence.

Problem-based learning. Class time can be spent working on problems that can last for the duration of a semester.

Discussions or debate. Give students the opportunity to articulate their thoughts on the spot and to develop their arguments in support of their opinions or claims.

We have a learning management system (LMS) that offers communication with parents about the distribution of materials. 

Communication of short-term information (e.g. tonight’s homework,) and long-term plans (e.g. math progress, classroom behavior),

And include concrete examples of how students can be more successful.
